International Certificate of French Proficiency (ICFP)

Our teaching program is divided into 3 stages, from the beginning level for absolutely new learners, to advance level for experienced learners. Each stage contains a number of sub-Levels with different learning objectives. In order to advance to higher level, student is required to attend at least 70% of the lessons and pass the Final Assessment at the end of the course. 

French Recruit: Level 1 - 5

French Recruit: Level 1 – 5 is the foundation of our program. In this stage, we aim at building a solid base for our students at a moderate pace. Basic vocabulary, phrases and expressions will be covered and reinforced. Grammar rules will also be taught in a progressive way. Simple French traditions and habits will also be introduced. By completing the Recruit stage, students should be able to use simple phrases and expressions to interact with others related to areas of immediate relevance, such as talking about personal / family background, making new friends, shopping and direction, etc.

The French Recruit Stage is approximately equivalent to the A1 Level defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Around 100 teaching hours are required to reach this level.

French Veteran: Level 6 - 10

French Veteran: Level 6 – 10 is the intermediate stage of our program. The main focus will be shifted from building foundation to improving fluency. Students will have the chance to get fully immersed in an interactive French atmosphere, where they will be encouraged to practise what they have learnt. Oral training and listening training will be particularly focused. By the end of this stage, they should be able to express personal opinions, describe experience and give explanations on familiar topics in a coherent manner. They should also be able to understand a wide range of matters encountered in daily life and give appropriate feedback.(e.g. School / Work / Leisure).

The French Veteran Stage is approximately equivalent to the A2 – B1 Level defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Around  200 -250 teaching hours are required to reach this level.

French Elite:  Level 11+

French Elite: Level 11+ is the advanced stage of our program. Students should now be able to express ideas coherently and participate in daily conversations without much difficulty.  The program theme will now be adjusted according to students' own ability and interest. Students may choose to enrich his or her knowledge on specific areas, or to strengthen his or her weak areas, etc.

The French Elite Stage is approximately equivalent to the B2+ Level defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The exact teaching hours required depends on the student’s learning pace.
