Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE)

What is it?

Hong Kong secondary students can take French as one of the elective subjects. HKDSE French is recognized examination accepted by both universities and employers as proof of the linguistic ability and understanding. Some of Hong Kong secondary schools offer the curriculum related to HKDSE French.

Hong Kong sendary Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority use the question papers of the Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level from the Cambridge Assessment International Education. All marking and grading are conducted by the Cambridge International. AS-level is a typically one year course before students enter the universities around the world including in the UK, US, European nations, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. In order to start AS-level French course, students are recommend to have previously completed I/GCSE French assessment/course or equivalent. So students normally should have learned French for around 4 to 5 years to take the HKDSE French.

There are three components in AS-level French exam: Speaking test (29%), reading and writing (50%), essay (21%). The topic areas include:
